2016 in review: Carrie Booth, BSP Consulting

Carrie Booth

Carrie Booth, business development coordinator at East Midlands-based civil and structural engineering firm BSP Consulting, shares her review of 2016.

What has been your highlight of the year?
Being given the opportunity to attend MIPIM in 2016, the world’s largest property market event that gathers the most influential international property players from all sectors. I represented BSP along with our managing director, David Sumner, and business development director, Jef Todd, at the four-day real estate exhibition, conference and networking event. It took place in Cannes in March and was a great opportunity to meet new contacts, renew acquaintances and to spend time with our clients and associates.

And your lowlight?
Trying a full fringe. I’m growing it out as quickly as I can!

How do you think 2016 will be remembered?
For Leicester City winning the Premier League title, which is one of the greatest sporting stories of all time.

Hero of the year (business or otherwise)?
My daughter for passing her driving test. Well done Leah Booth.

And villain?
Am I allowed to say my boss Jef? He’s great really, but, since I was appointed to the business development unit, I’ve attended two or three functions on average a week, which means I’m having to run further and faster to keep myself in trim after enjoying the hospitality.

What’s your New Year’s Resolution?
To not put off until tomorrow what can be done today and to beat my PB in the Derby 10k in April 2017. The race is a regular on the BSP calendar, as it starts and finishes just a stone’s throw from our Derby office at Pride Park. I’m determined to achieve a personal best next year.
