A1 Flues recruit off to flying start
A1 FLUE Systems’ newest recruit has hit the ground running after securing five projects totalling more than £100,000 within the first two weeks of joining the company.
Salesman Robert McGookin has joined the Ollerton-based company to cover the whole of Ireland, and he’s wasted no time in picking up orders for commercial flue and chimney systems for new office and apartment blocks that are springing up in Dublin Quays.
McGookin is a well-known figure in the Irish heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) industry, with more than 35 years’ experience, including working for listed businesses, operating chains of builders’ merchants and running his own company.
He puts his success down to A1 Flue Systems – which employs 140 people – being the only company in the UK to design, manufacture and install complex industrial flue and chimney systems. Previous projects include The Shard in London.
He said: “It feels like the Celtic Tiger is starting to roar again, and A1 is very well placed to support the construction of new projects that need flue and chimney systems connected to the boiler systems that power a building’s heating and hot water systems.
“Similarly, we specialise in refurbishment projects where new systems need to be installed as part of building improvements on schools, hospitals, office blocks, hotels and public buildings.”
Director Tracy-Jane (TJ) Duncan-Moir added: “We have had a presence in Ireland for a number of years, but Robert’s appointment signals our intent to increase our activities and capitalise on the opportunities both north and south of the border.”
