A Grantham pharmaceutical services provider is opening a second office at BioCity in Nottingham.

Pure Drug Safety (PDS), which is a specialist in outsourced pharmacovigilance (the practice of monitoring the effects of medical drugs after they have been licensed for use, especially in order to identify and evaluate previously unreported adverse reactions), will also retain its head office in Grantham.

Managing director Carol Kingstone said it is an exciting time for the team of 10 as the company looks at growth plans to secure more contracts across the globe.

“Our business has been gaining real momentum over the last couple of years – both in terms of the team we are building and the clients we are attracting – and the move to BioCity is the next logical step in that progression,” said Carol.

“Being at BioCity will give our team more flexibility to work across two sites in a sector where the agility to support pharmaceutical companies of all sizes – from SMEs to the global giants – is absolutely critical.

“The move gives our business the perfect platform for growth because we will have access to everything from high-end equipment and shared services to training, business support and investment for new and growing bioscience businesses.”

PDS started life reviewing and testing patient information leaflets, and Carol and the team saw an opportunity to expand its profile of services. In less than a decade, PDS has become one of the UK’s leading outsourced pharmacovigilance service providers.

“Our business has grown on the simple but effective premise of offering a partnership approach in the truest sense of the word,” added Carol.

“We’ve developed a world-class infrastructure of specialists – which is why we have been able to secure much-coveted contracts to work with some of the largest pharmaceutical companies across the globe. But, no matter how large the organisation, we recognise the importance of strong, reliable and flexible personal working relations with our clients.

“And while we have developed this approach on our own, all the early indicators suggest that at BioCity we’ll be amongst many like-minded, ambitious bioscience businesses, and this will be a great platform for growth.”
