Former newspaper print rooms could be home to trampoline park

The former print rooms of an East Midlands local newspaper could be turned into a trampoline park.

The Leicester Mercury’s former print rooms in the Mercury Place building will be transformed into a leisure complex by Jump Arena, which already has premises in Luton and Leeds, in a move that will create between 40 and 50 jobs.

The former print rooms have been empty since The Mercury moved its print operation out in 2009 and the rest of the building has been used as offices.

Last year, the Mercury’s editorial staff moved out of Mercury Place after a new music licensing venture between London-based organisations PRS for Music and Phonographic Performance Ltd moved in, bringing 200 jobs to Leicester.

Jump Arena is has been actively searching for floorplates from 20,000 sq ft.
