Happy deal for Nottingham entrepreneur

Anna Ellison and Fiona Nicholls

A McDonald’s restaurant in Nottingham has been acquired by local business woman Fiona Nicholls with financial backing provided with a six figure loan from the Royal Bank of Scotland.

The restaurant, at 656 Radford Road in Basford, Nottingham, employs 120 people.

Nicholls is a former McDonald’s employee, having worked for the company in various roles for almost 30 years, more recently in the East Finchley head office, before becoming a franchisee this year.

She said: “McDonald’s is a company I know extremely well, having worked in operations for the majority of my career to date. I had been commuting to London in the last few years and was looking for an opportunity to run my own business and ideally be based in Nottingham. This is an established McDonald’s restaurant and I am delighted to acquire it. I hope this is the first of many more restaurants for me. It is a real honour to be a McDonald’s franchisee as I know it’s not an easy process to secure.”

Anna Ellison, senior relationship manager at Royal Bank of Scotland said: “Fiona’s background and knowledge of the McDonald’s brand makes her a perfect fit as a McDonald’s franchisee. She has secured a great restaurant that boasts the latest technology and in a prime location. We wish her all the very best and look forward to seeing her business expand in the future.”
