Intu hints at Broadmarsh kick-off with staff relocation

Could the redevelopment of the Broadmarsh about to take a step closer?

Intu, the owner of the Broadmarsh shopping mall in Nottingham, is set to relocate the centre’s staff into the disused Severns House in a move which could kick-start the redevelopment of the site.

Severns House, which is attached to the Broadmarsh, has been empty for some time since Nottingham City Council vacated the building and moved most of its staff to Loxley House.

Now, the City Council has given Intu the green light to refurbish Severns House and move its staff in.

A letter from architects Nathaniel Lichfield & Partners to Nottingham City Council, seen by TheBusinessDesk.com, reads: “Intu are keen to bring forward the relocation of the Centre Management offices in advance of the wider

redevelopment planning permission being implemented, to enable continuous centre management presence at the centre during the construction of the main redevelopment project.”

Intu was granted planning permission in January 2016 to redevelop the Broadmarsh, which is seen by many as a blight on the city centre. The firm says it will move its staff onto the second floor of Severns House and refurbish the building to include a new glazed entrance.
