Libertines’ Nottingham bar opening denied

Despite rumours swirling around local and national press for the last 24 hours, TheBusinessDesk.com has learned  that two members of the pop group The Libertines will not being opening a bar in Nottingham.

The story – which outlined that Cara Barat and Pete Doherty of the band – were set to buy a pub and call it The Albion Rooms (the monicker the pair gave to the flat they shared when they were starting the band) has been denied by the The Libertines’ press team.

Several reports said the pair were also looking to renovate an upstairs flat to include a studio where they could work on new material.

Among the venues strongly mooted among local circles was The Old Angel pub, which has just closed down.

Anonymous sources are reported to have said: “Pete and Carl want somewhere of their own where they can hang out and make music in a relaxed environment. They want a social atmosphere so they can work on music when they’re at their most creative.”

However, Tony Linkin, The Libertines’ PR manager, told us: “I can confirm that the story is not true.”

The band are currently scheduled to play a string of dates across France in support of their latest comeback album, Anthems For Doomed Youth.
