A new business networking group is holding its inaugural event at the Genting Club in Derby on 3 June and will be welcoming John Forkin, managing director of Marketing Derby as its first guest speaker.

Fusion, a monthly event, says it aims to attract a range of SMEs as well as larger companies from the East Midlands region and promises a different format to many of the networking groups operating in and around Derby.

Organiser Chrissie Rowell of Black Hare Marketing, said: “After conducting some research, it was clear that people wanted an opportunity to mix with businesses of different sizes and in a less pressured environment than many groups provide.”

“There’s never been a greater time to network in Derby, with regeneration in full swing and new businesses moving into the city, there are so many opportunities to do business. It makes for a really positive and exciting feel surrounding Fusion.”

Each event will be centred around lunch prepared by the chefs at Genting’s Fahrenheit restaurant, followed by a talk given by a speaker of special importance and relevance to business and commerce in Derby.

Josh North, events and hospitality manager, is welcoming of such an event to Genting, a relatively new name in Derby and part of the Riverlights development: “After months of planning, we’re really keen for Fusion to get underway. Derby city is missing a networking event of this kind and being able to host it at Genting Club is very exciting – I can’t wait for people to see what we have to offer. We’re much more than just a casino.”
