Barclays and Loughborough uni join forces for SME event

Barclays and Loughborough University have joined forces to host the region’s first ‘Spring into SME Growth’ event.

The event, which is taking place on Tuesday 23rd February at Loughborough University, aims to improve the links between local SMEs and the University.

Guests will hear from Alistair Cunningham, Regional Director at the Bank of England, who will be sharing his views on the economic outlook for the region along with David Wright, Economic Strategy Manager, from the Leicestershire Local Enterprise Partnership who will be sharing insight into the work of the LLEP.

Richard Parker, relationship director at Barclays said: “This event is the first of its kind locally and it’s a great forum for academia and business to come together to ensure that graduates are leaving with the skills that are required by today’s businesses. Equally, it’s important for companies to understand the breadth of talent we have across Leicestershire and to work in partnership with the University to retain this talent to the benefit of the wider East Midland’s economy.”

Sophie Kanabar,  employer engagement associate at Loughborough University commented: “We want to highlight the benefits of working with the University to SME’s across our region. This could be anything from work placement opportunities and R&D projects through to the recruitment of graduates. Our Careers & Employability Centre and Barclays business banking team want to contribute to SME business success and events such as this can explore the opportunities available to us.”
