Bardon sports nutrition firm sold to Primark owner

A Leicestershire-based manufacturer of sports nutrition products has been bought by the owner of Primark and British Sugar.

Associated British Foods (ABF) has swooped for High 5, which produces energy gel sachets for athletes at its Bardon plant.

High 5, which has been established for 20 years, sponsors athletes, including Team GB triathlete Vicky Holland who bwon bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics. The company has also ploughed cash into a professional international cycling team with bike retailer Wiggle.

A spokesman for ABF said: “The business complements ABF’s wider portfolio of healthier food brands.”
