World-first for Nottingham as new drone racing centre opens

A new drone racing circuit has opened in Nottingham in a 25,000 sq ft building on Nottingham’s Meadow Lane.

The arena will include a full-size neon-lit iSeries Race Circuit, along with rooms for beginners and children to practise.

Managing director of owner UKDS Racing, Sam Shaw, said: “There are companies that do one-off events but this is the world’s first permanent racing arena. We have had a big balcony built so people can watch the races from there”.

Senior associate, Sarah Swann from real estate team at Leicester Law firm Spearing Waite who advised on the deal, added: “We are delighted to have helped Chris, Sam and the rest of the team at UKDS Racing Limited to set up home in Nottingham. We have all been fascinated with the footage we have seen of the drones and wish them every success with this exciting new venture.”

In addition to the Lease, Spearing Waite’s Commercial team has advised UKDS on its agreement with UK Drone Show for the staging at the Arena of a series of heats as part of the iSeries Drone Racing Tournament, in a deal running initially for three years starting on Saturday 18th March. This work was led by Ian Thomson, head of commercial, supported by trainee solicitor Cara Ward.
