£2.6m boost for A52

Highways England has announced a £2.6m boost towards the £14m to ease traffic congestion on the A52 and around the Wyvern and Pride Park.

The project will help ease traffic congestion, as well as make it safer for pedestrians and cyclists.

The plans include creating extra lanes on the A52, near the Wyvern junctions. A new two-lane slip road would be built off the A52 into the Wyvern/Pride Park and a signal-controlled crossroads would be created at the junction of Wyvern Way and Derwent Parade, with bus priority detectors on the westbound approach.

The improvements are part of a £14m project, which will include further funding from D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership via the Local Growth Fund.

The project will also help the the 28-hectare Derby Triangle development site proceed.

The improvements are essential to accommodate the extra journeys the developments will create.”
