£10m Derbyshire packaging company could be sold in pre-pack deal

A Derbyshire packaging firm which slipped into administration earlier this month could be sold in a pre-pack deal to its directors.

Charapak, a £10m turnover packaging company based in Alfreton, entered administration along with its subsidiaries Siliconpak and Charapak Speciality Packaging, in early March.

However, documents seen by TheBusinessDesk.com, reveal that a new company, Charapak Packaging was set up in January listing the same address. The new company also shares directors with Charapak.

In its latest accounts for the year ending 31 December 2015, Charapak made a profit of £158,000 – down from £723,000 the previous year. At the time the firm employed 82 people.

Duff & Phelps has been appointed administrator to the company.

Charapak was established in 1980 and has a manufacturing, fulfilment and storage facility on the Meadow Lane Industrial Estate in Alfreton, along with a sales office in London. The company is run by directors Peter Ward and Richard Squibb.
