Historic Leicester safety and industrial provider enters administration

An historic Leicester provider of safety and industrial products has slipped into administration.

SBA, which is based on Freemans Common Road in the city, called in administrators from Smith Cooper on 27 March.

The firm, which sells everything from protective clothing and safety equipment to heat resistant and insulating materials, has been trading for more than 100 years.

In its last available accounts to 30 November 2015, SBA owed creditors just over £2m. The previous year, its accounts made up to 30 November 2014 showed the company had slipped into the red, making a loss of £38,534 after losing a “significant” contract in the last quarter of its financial year. At the time it employed 29 people.

The firm is run by directors Terence Hawkes, Rodney Smith, Karin Webber, Keith Webber.
