680 jobs at risk as Jaeger bombs

Fashion chain Jaeger has entered administration, putting 700 jobs – including some in the East Midlands – at risk.

Jaeger has appointed Alix Partners to look after the day-to-day running of the firm. The fashion store has outlets in Nottingham, the East Midlands Designer Outlet in Derbyshire, Leicester and Boundary Mill in Grantham.

In a statement, Alix Partners said the appointment was made at the request of Jaeger’s directors as a result of the company being unable to attract suitable offers despite a lengthy and well publicised sales process.

The joint administrators will continue to trade the company while working with all stakeholders to evaluate the most appropriate route forward.

At the time of the appointment the company employs approximately 680 staff across its 46 stores, 63 concessions, head office in London and logistics function in Kings Lynn.

Peter Saville, joint administrator, said: “Regrettably despite an extensive sales process it has not been possible to identify a purchaser for the business. Our focus now is in identifying an appropriate route forward and work with all stakeholders to do this. We will ensure that we communicate further as this process unfolds.”
