Travel alert: Fire causing cancellations on East Midlands Trains routes

A fire near involving gas cylinders at Hendon is disrupting East Midlands trains on the London St Pancras/Nottingham/Sheffield route.

The fire has also had an affect on the nearby roads and the M1 has also been closed.

At present the Fire Brigade are on site and in the process of evacuating the surrounding buildings.

The lines are currently closed.

All East Midlands trains are currently unable to run in the area. The operator says that if you are travelling from London to to Chesterfield you should use Cross Country services between Chesterfield and Sheffield.

If you are travelling from London St Pancras to Derby you should use Virgin Trains services from London Euston to Birmingham and connect with Cross Country services to Derby or Leicester.

If you are travelling to Long Eaton you should follow the guidance above and use Cross Country services between Derby and Long Eaton.

If you are travelling from London St Pancras to Nottingham you should use Virgin Trains East Coast services from London Kings Cross to Grantham and connect with other East Midlands Trains services to Nottingham.

If you are travelling to Beeston you should follow the guidance above and use Cross Country or other East Midlands Trains services between Nottingham and Beeston.

If you are travelling to Wellingborough/Kettering/Corby/Market Harborough you should travel on services from London Euston to Northampton. East Midlands Trains have then arranged replacement buses to run from Northampton to Wellingborough, and then you can change for trains to Kettering and Market Harborough. The train operator have also arranged replacement buses between Kettering and Corby.
