134 jobs on the way as Nottingham mixed-use scheme gets green light

Plans for a mixed-use scheme in the Clifton area of Nottingham have been given the green light by council planners.

Cedar House Investments has been given the go-ahead to build 24 apartments, a Lidl supermarket, a cafe/restaurant and four retail units on the Clifton Triangle site in Nottingham in a move that will create 134 jobs.

Cedar House says the scheme will act as an extension to Clifton and will create nearly £4m GVA annually once built.

The scheme will be built on the former Fairham House site, which was previously owned by Nottingham City Council and will be designed by DLG Architects.

It will be made up of 23 two-bedroom and one 1-bedroom apartments, a 23,000 sq ft Lidl supermarket, 40,000 sq ft of retail units and an 1,800 sq ft cafe or restaurant. There will also be parking space for 249 cars.

In a planning statement, DLG said: “The proposals strike a balance between what is economically viable, the needs and views of the local community and the principal requirements of both modern retailers and future housing requirements.

“Not only could these proposals create attractive buildings within a well maintained landscape they will also be an asset for the local community of Clifton. The construction process and the opening of this district retail centre will create many new jobs in Clifton.”
