Sowden Group appoints new PR team

Ian Strachan

A Staffordshire communications consultancy has been hired by a Leicestershire’s property developer to handle its press and public relations

Lichfield-based Ian Strachan Communications has been appointed by the Leicester city centre-based Sowden Group.

Established in 1950 the Sowden Group is involved in some of the biggest regeneration projects in the centre of Leicester.

The group is also involved in residential projects throughout the county of Leicestershire, including major developments in Loughborough and Melton Mowbray. Recent projects include a 12,500 sq ft open plan office block in Pioneer Park, Leicester, the Travelodge and Gala Casino in Leicester and Nottingham’s Castle Wharf. The group is also developing the former city council site on New Walk.

Sowden Group owner and managing director Roy Coley said: “This is an exciting time for us and for the regeneration of the city of Leicester. In the past we have chosen to keep a fairly low profile, but as a Leicester lad I now believe we should be shouting about what our city has to offer from the rooftops. We have a great story to tell and we chose Ian Strachan Communications because of Ian’s expertise in the property and construction sectors and a no-nonsense approach to PR. We believe Ian Strachan Communications will help us achieve the recognition our work and capabilities deserve.”

Ian Strachan Communications was set up 17 years ago by Ian Strachan, formerly corporate affairs director at Birmingham commercial vehicle manufacturer LDV and corporate communications director at Rover Group. The consultancy has a range of clients across the automotive, manufacturing, engineering, recruitment and construction sectors

Strachan said: “Under Roy Coley’s leadership Sowden has an impressive track record in the regeneration of Leicester city centre and the wider region. I am looking forward to helping Sowden achieve the recognition it deserves for its continued growth and contribution to the East Midlands economy.”
