Derbyshire packaging firm owing £2.6m sold in pre-pack deal

A Derbyshire packaging firm which slipped into administration, owing £2.6m to creditors, has been bought in a pre-pack deal by its former owners.

Charapak, a £10m turnover packaging company based in Alfreton, entered administration along with its subsidiaries Siliconpak and Charapak Speciality Packaging, in early March.

Charapak Packaging Limited was set up in January, with the same directors named. The firm has now bought the stricken company.

Charapak entered administration owing HMRC over £185,000, and trade creditors some £2.59m

Major creditors include £1.27m to DS Smith Sheet Feeding, £122,060 to Wilson Insurance of Nottingham, £150,714 to White Peak Distribution and £234,486 to On Board Corrugated.

Charapak was established in 1980 and has a manufacturing, fulfilment and storage facility on the Meadow Lane Industrial Estate in Alfreton, along with a sales office in London. The company was run by directors Peter Ward and Richard Squibb.
