Law firm Shakespeare Martineau has appointed a new private client partner and promoted two people to senior positions at its Leicester offices.

Paul Horton joins the firm after heading up the wills, tax, trusts and probate team at Weightmans, where he worked for seven years advising high net worth individuals, from business owners to premiership footballers, on a range of domestic and cross-jurisdictional issues.

The firm has also announced two promotions in its family and planning departments.

Katherine Marshall, who has been with Shakespeare Martineau for seven years, has been promoted to the position of associate partner at the Leicester Colton Square office.

Brian Mullin has been promoted to partner following an eight-year stint at the firm. As a member of the Marrons Planning department at the Leicester Meridian office, Brian provides strategic planning advice to landowners and developers.

Roy Botterill, partner and head of Shakespeare Martineau’s Leicester Colton Square office, said: “The growth of the Leicester offices, both in terms of external recruitment and the promotion of internal talent, is hugely positive and will play an important role in the expansion of the firm across the East Midlands region. I am certain that Paul will prove a very valuable addition to Shakespeare Martineau and look forward to the continued progression of Katherine and Brian following their well-deserved promotions.”
