Property entrepreneurs plan city centre music studio

Newland House

Plans have been submitted to Nottingham City Council to turn a disused boiler room in the city centre into a music studio.

Severns Investments, which is run by Mark and Adam Cavell, wants to open up the basement in Newland House on Mount Street, which is rented out by Severns Rental Agency as student accommodation, into a 1,600 sq ft recording studio.

Mark Cavell is also a director as Mabec, which bought the 60,000 sq ft Newland House, which were formerly used as offices by energy company Eon.

Mabec hit the headlines in 2015. The company bought Newton House and Newland House – what were known to many as the ‘Maid Marian Towers’ – in a deal overseen by Innes England.

Newland House, which is located on Mount Street, was transformed into 240 apartments – with an additional 134 created at Newtown House.

Mabec is also behind plans to turn Radford Mill in Nottingham into 450 homes.
