5 things to do in the East Midlands this weekend

Willy Russell’s heart-warming one-woman play premiered over 30 years ago, and now the show is back and taking to the stage at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal this weekend. The show, which stars Jodie Prenger, is the first major revival of the play, which follows the story of a Liverpudlian housewife whose life has disappered around her. Dot To Dot Festival
Dot To Dot Festiavl takes place in Nottingham on Sunday. The festival takes place at venues across the city, including Rock City, Nottingham Trent University, BrewDog, The Orange Tree, Rough Trade and The Bodega Bar. The festival will see the likes of Sundara Karma, Amber Run, Louis Berry, Honeyblood and The Big Moon take to the stage. Find out more here.

The Simon And Garfunkel Story
The Simon & Garfunkel Story takes to the stage at Leicester’s De Montford Hall this weekend. The show features photos and original film footage, as well as a full live band performing the duo’s biggest hits, from Mrs Robinson to Bridge Over Troubled Water. Find out more here.

Great Food & Drink Festival
The Great Food and Drink Festival is set to return for its third year at Nottingham Castle this weekend. The event will see some of the UK’s very best chefs take to the stage for demonstrations alongside a wide range of bars, over 100 stands selling food, craft workshops, live music and entertainment. The Olivier Award-winning comedy East is East takes to the stage at Nottingham Playhouse this weekend. Starring Vicky Entwistle, best known for her Coronation Street role of Janice Battersby, the show follows the story of 1970s family life in Salford, with parkas, space hoppers and plenty of fish and chips alongside a gripping storyline.
