Two firms fighting it out for £150m Broadmarsh contract, says report

Two construction firms are vying to land the £150m contract to redevelop the Broadmarsh shopping centre in Nottingham, according to reports.

Construction News is reporting that Laing O’Rourke and Bowmer & Kirkland will fight it out for the intu contract.

Intu development director Martin Breeden said a contractor would likely be picked by the end of 2017.

“We can confirm that we’re currently going through a tender process which will enable us to appoint the main contractor for the refurbishment of intu Broadmarsh,” he said.

“We hope to appoint the main contractor by the end of this year.

“Our plans for Intu Broadmarsh complement our existing offer at intu Victoria Centre as well as the wider city. We’ve worked with Nottingham City Council to align with their vision and to ensure that our development works with the rest of the city, improving access and connectivity throughout.”

Both firms declined to comment, said Construction News.

The redevelopment works are expected to begin in December of this year, and be completed by early 2020.
