Foxes pocket £116m from Premier League

The Premier League has announced the value of payments of broadcast and central commercial income to its Clubs during the 2016/17 season.

The Premier League paid out almost £2.4bn to clubs last season. Leicester City received £115,820,488, while title winners Chelsea banked £150,811,183.

Bottom club Sunderland received £93,471,118.

The UK broadcast income is distributed as follows:

– 50 per cent is shared equally by the clubs (£35.3m per club)
– 25 per cent is paid on ‘Facility Fees’ based on each time a club’s matches are broadcast in the UK
– 25 per cent is paid in ‘Merit Payments’ based on each club’s final league position

Earlier this week, TheBusinessDesk.com reported that Leicester City have leapt into the European elite after their Premier League title win in the 2015/16 season, according to figures from an influential new report.

KPMG’s Football Clubs’ Valuation: The European Elite 2017 report providing an indication of the Enterprise Value of the 32 most prominent European football clubs, and sees the Foxes enter the list in 16th position with an Enterprise Value reckoned, at top calculations, to be around €482m.
