5 things to do in East Midlands this weekend

Funny Girl
West End’s leading lady Natasha J Barnes, along with the cast of Funny Girl, arrive in Nottingham this weekend at the Theatre Royal. Funny Girl follows the story of Franny Brice, whose vocal talents and comedic ability see her rise from Brooklyn musical hall singer to Broadway star. The show also boasts some of the most iconic songs from theatre history, including People and Don’t Rain On My Parade. Find out more here.

Big Band in the Barn
Head along to The Dairy Farm in Barkby, Leicestershire, on Saturday for the Big Band in the Barn event. The event, which begins at 7.30pm, will feature an evening of live music and entertainment alongside children’s entertainment and plenty for the family to do. Newark Festival
Newark Festival returns for its sixth year this weekend. The weekend will see UB40 take to the stage, where they are set to perform their greatest hits, alongside a host of other artists. Dance like a Tudor…
Head along to Rufford Abbey Stables on Saturday for the opportunity to discover a side of the Tudors you may have never heard about. The event will give you the chance to learn how to dance like Tudors from historical dance society teachers. whilst learning more about them, and there will also be live music by period music group De Mowbray’s Musique. Cockpit-Fest
Newark Air Museum are hosting a Cockpit-Fest and Aeroboot this weekend. The event is set to be host to a wide range of stalls, alongside 21 aircraft cockpits on display, a wide range of activities for the whole gang to enjoy and military re-enactors.
