Nottingham construction firm lands £6.2m hotel contract

How the new Premier Inn will look

Nottingham headquartered construction firm Clegg has landed a £6.2m contract to build a new Premier Inn hotel in Leeds.

The company is the main contractor for the scheme at the Arndale Centre in Headingley.

The £6.2m contract on behalf of Schroder Real Estate Investment Trust (SREIT) involves the redevelopment of Arndale House – a 1960’s vacant office block comprising 4,000 square metres over nine storeys.

The Premier Inn will open for business in the first quarter of 2018.

Premier Inn has confirmed 45 jobs will be created. The hotel is situated close to Headingley Stadium, University of Leeds and Leeds Becket University.

Simon Blackburn, Clegg Construction’s managing director, said: “We are very familiar with the Arndale Centre after completing £1 million of work there in recent times. The scheme is progressing well and highlights our expertise within the leisure industry. The project is being carried out above a live retail centre and adjacent to occupied commercial offices; our dedicated site team is working closely with all parties to ensure a smooth delivery.”

This is the second Premier Inn Clegg Construction has completed, the first being a 118 bedroom hotel in Derby City Centre, which opened last year.
