How does one of the region’s busiest commercial property lawyers wind down at the weekend? We found out…

How do you relax at the weekend?
Spending time with the family, although I wouldn’t call it relaxing! I’m taxi service for cricket, tennis, dance and various other activities. Children are very funny. Teenagers are a different species.

How many hours do you work at the weekend on average?
I try not to work at the weekends but every now and again there’s a deadline to be met. I work from home so I can lock myself in my office and crack on.

What is your favourite…
– Holiday destination? In the UK it’s Northumberland, miles of unspoilt beaches, friendly pubs, local beer and big sky. Abroad – ask me in 2 months and hopefully I’ll say the Greek islands, we’re having our first family sailing holiday. Never been to Greece before, can’t wait. I might struggle with 5 of us on a boat though, I don’t pack light!

– Book? Anything by Margaret Attwood, the Viz Annual, and the “That’s Not My…” series of books for toddlers. Someone should produce a set for the property and construction industry. “That’s not my M&E contractor, his brogues are too shiny.”

– Album? Tough question. On the basis of number of plays and memories evoked, it’s got to be something by U2, probably The Joshua Tree. Also Nirvana, Nevermind. Kurt Cobain was just a genius. And Foo Fighters, Echoes Silence Patience and Grace.

– TV programme? 24 Hours in A&E, although I was hooked on House of Cards (both UK and US) and The Bridge. Our TV is monopolised by youths lolling about watching social experiment TV, such as Love Island. Like, what is the actual point of that though, as they say.

– Food? Today, salad and wine. In winter, curry and wine.

– Website or app? The Hotpod Yoga app. Easy to use, lovely visuals and opens the door to a world of twilit calm, flexibility, and China Gel. And sweat. If that doesn’t get you to check it out, nothing will.

How do you usually spend your Sunday evenings?
Washing sports kit, checking homework, and Rioja (which can also be a verb).
