On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Four solicitors at Nottingham law firm Rothera Sharp have been promoted to senior positions in the business.

Motor transport experts Laura Newton and Olivia Maginn, commercial law specialist Jason Waghorne and Sarah Soo, who works in wills and probate, rise to associate level. Waghorne steps up to lead the commercial law department.

Ann-Marie Bowman, the firm’s managing partner, said: “Since the merger between Rothera Dowson and Sharp, Young and Pearce last year, the newly-formed Rothera Sharp has gone from strength-to-strength. Laura, Olivia, Jason and Sarah bring a high level of expertise to the firm, so we are delighted to help them progress their careers.

“Their commitment and contribution to the firm has been recognised and they will now have the opportunity to become involved in the future plans for the firm.

“Commercial law is one of the fastest growing areas of the business and the merger has led to us attracting more clients than ever. The department offers a comprehensive range of services to businesses covering everything from buying and selling a company to preparing contracts.”

Nottingham chartered accountant Clayton & Brewill has strengthened its team with a promotion and new appointment.

The firm has recruited Lisa Smith as accounts manager and promoted manager Garry Underwood to head of compliance.

Smith joins Clayton & Brewill from Higson & Co, where she had worked for the past 16 years.

She said: “I’m excited to join Clayton & Brewill. They have a reputation for providing great client service and I was also attracted by the welcoming and friendly culture of the firm. I’m looking forward to working with a wide variety of clients to help them with their accounting and tax requirements.”

Underwood added: “I’m delighted to have been promoted to head of compliance. The team are vibrant and energetic and I’m looking forward to working with them to provide a great service to a broad mix of our clients.”
