Curve secures £1.9m Arts Council funding

Curve, the Leicester theatre, has announced that it will receive ongoing funding from Arts Council England and remain as a National Portfolio Organisation.

Over the next four years, Curve will receive £1.9m a year, a standstill amount.

Curve’s chief executive Chris Stafford said: “We are delighted to secure ongoing funding as a National Portfolio Organisation from Arts Council England. This instrumental support will enable us to build on our success and ensure we continue to make and programme work of the highest quality and ambition for everyone who lives, learns and works in this terrific city and beyond.

“I would like to thank Arts Council England and also Leicester City Council for their continued support of Curve.”

Peter Knott, area director, Arts Council England said: “Curve is at the heart of Leicester’s thriving cultural scene and plays a vital part in the local creative economy, producing great theatre that entertains and inspires us, and we’re delighted to be investing in their work over the next four years. It will be great to see our funding supporting its innovative productions, getting more people inspired by great theatre.”

Future highlights at Curve include a Curve Young Company and community production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a dramatic adaption of Amana Fontanella-Khan’s Pink Sari Revolution and Leslie Bricusse’s Christmas musical Scrooge.
