Northants bakery set to expand with funding deal

Valeria and James Turner

Food manufacturer, The Incredible Bakery Company, says it will increase its Northamptonshire operation thanks to funding from First Enterprise.

The business was set up in 2013 by entrepreneurs Valeria and James Turner when they discovered that son Leon was affected by multiple food allergies. When researching suitable foods, they spotted a gap in the market.

Valeria said: “After Leon was diagnosed with several allergies we found he was really restricted in what he could eat and that the substitutes available were not up to scratch. With this in mind we wanted to create tasty products with a high nutritional value.

“We also ensure that all of our products are free from the 14 most common food allergens, such as gluten, nuts and milk. As a result our best-selling products are definitely the red-quinoa loaf and the chocolate brownie.”

First Enterprise, a leading East Midlands finance and business support provider, has supported the entrepreneurial baking duo with a loan of £20,000.

Since launching, The Incredible Bakery Company has been awarded multiple awards and now sells its products across the country to caterers, food outlets, and specialist retailers.

Valeria added: “As a business we are growing rapidly, and it is therefore key for us to invest in new equipment and staff to support our expansion. The loan from First Enterprise has enabled us to not only invest in new equipment but also help cover cashflow during this period.”

Victoria Copestake, business development manager at First Enterprise, said: “We’re really proud to support Valeria and James with getting the funds they needed to expand The Incredible Bakery Company.

“Cashflow is a common issue for growing businesses and First Enterprise is here to help other businesses across the Midlands whether they need funding and advice to help them get started or to invest in new premises or equipment.”
