Traffic alert: M1 closed southbound in Northants

The M1 in Northamptonshire is closed southbound between J15 (Northampton) and J14 (Milton Keynes) due to a 2 vehicle collision involving a car and a petrol tanker.

Northamptonshire Police, Fire & Rescue and Highways England Traffic Officers are on scene with the road expected to be closed for several hours due to a large fuel spillage across all lanes.

A diversion route has been implemented with traffic to follow the hollow circle route. Motorists should exit the M1 at J15 and head south on the A508 through Roade and Grafton Regis to the junction with the A508/A5/A422 Old Stratford Roundabout. Continue onto the A5 to the A5/A509 Portway Interchange, take the first exit onto the A509 and continue to the roundabout with the A509/A4146. Take the first exit and re-join the M1 at J14.

Motorists heading towards the area are advised to allow additional travelling time.
