Christina Yardley

Christina Yardley, partner at law firm Rothera Sharp, tells us how she unwinds at the weekend.

How do you relax at the weekend?
I’m a little bit green-fingered and love to get out in the garden. After a busy week at work it’s nice to have some peace and quiet and escape from the stresses of everyday life. I find it really rewarding to see the fruits of your labor too when the plants and veg finally come to fruition.

How many hours do you work at the weekend on average?
One of my New Year’s resolutions was to try not to work at weekends as it had started to creep up to at least one full day every weekend. Work-life balance is important to me and I’ve mostly stuck to it – I’m not counting checking emails though!

What’s your favourite:
Holiday destination? I really enjoy heading to the Caribbean. It’s not just the weather and general relaxation which I enjoy, but the beaches, cocktails and the salsa dancing!

Book? It’s difficult to single out any books, as there’s just so many to choose from. I do enjoy a good murder mystery with James Patterson and Abigail Keam always making it into my suitcase. For long-haul trips you can’t beat Game of Thrones for a great read – it certainly keeps you occupied!

Album? Again, I honestly don’t think I could pinpoint one particular album, as my tastes are so broad. Since getting Amazon Alexa, I’ve become a real flitter – great for a bit of diversity!

Food? I love most food but French would probably be my favourite because of the lovely sauces.

TV Programme? I don’t watch a huge amount of television, but if push came to shove I’d settle down to some sci-fi. I don’t mind the odd drama too; the likes of Designated Survivor and Luther had me hooked!

Website or app? I’ve taken a real interest in Pinterest. It’s great to visualise whatever project you’re planning next, and having all this great inspiration in one place.

How do you usually spend Sunday evenings?
There’s nothing better than putting your feet up with some freshly cooked food, relaxing those aching muscles, and easing yourself into the week ahead.
