On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Barry Aldridge

Tidyco’s head of marketing, Barry Aldridge has been elected onto the board of directors for Rail Forum East Midlands.

Rail Forum East Midlands, formerly known as the Derby and Derbyshire Rail Forum (DDRF), represents over 150 businesses across the East Midlands, employing over 25,000 people and contributing £2.6bn to the local economy.

Formed in 1993 the DDRF was originally created to promote the area as a world class centre of rail excellence.

Aldridge said: “I am delighted to be joining the board of directors for Rail Forum East Midlands and am looking forward to supporting the group in driving positive change within the rail industry. There is a great deal of activity throughout the East Midlands and beyond regarding Government initiatives for industrial growth. I am excited to be a part of it.”

Lincoln-based chartered surveyor Banks Long & Co has announced two new appointments.

Will Strawson and Hadley Stones

Trainee surveyor Will Strawson – whose cousin Tom used to work for the business – has joined the surveying team for a year – and Hadley Stones is working within the administrative section.

Strawson is gaining experience during a sandwich year from his Real Estate degree course at Nottingham Trent University.

“Eventually, I want to do development work within the industry. During the coming months, I shall be working alongside Director James Butcher and learning more about the retail and leisure sector and with associate director Lewis Cove on project management work,” he said.

Hadley Stones has joined the team as an accounts assistant, after an 18-months stint working as a waiter in a county pub/restaurant.

“I wanted to move into an office-based job and I am now handling invoices and inputting payments,” he said.

Stones, who has already achieved his Level 2 Association of Accounting Technicians’ exams, is looking forward to studying for his Level 3 qualification.
