5 things to do in the East Midlands this weekend

Food and Drink Festival
Head along to the Food and Drink Festival at Wollaton Hall in Nottingham this weekend. There will be a whole host of celebrity chefs taking to the stage throughout the weekend to learn from, as well as a range of live music from a number of local bands and artists. The outdoor theatre season continues at Nottingham Castle this weekend. On Saturday, the classic story of Great Expectations will take to the stage at the venue and everybody’s favourite love story, Pride and Prejudice, will take place on Sunday evening. A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Enjoy a spot of Shakespeare this weekend at Leicester’s Curve Theatre. The classic tale of A Midsummer Night’s Dream will take to the stage and will feature a cast of 70 people aged 12 to 63. The reimagining of the play follows Hermia, Lysander, Helena and Demetrius in a complicated love triangle, which causes chaos among the young lovers. Find out more here.

1940s Weekend
Newark Air Museum will be hosts to a 1940s weekend on Saturday and Sunday. There is set to be a whole range of activities for the family to enjoy, from food tasting sessions, arts and crafts for children, 1940s games, aircraft model displays and much more to get involved in. Find out more here.

Bands In the Parks
Have a chilled out Sunday afternoon at Nottingham Arboretum this weekend. There will be free outdoor brass and woodwind concerts to enjoy throughout the day from the Rolls Royce Derby Band as part of the venue’s summer season.
