Derby comms specialist wins Jamaican job

Derby-based Simoco Wireless Solutions has signed a deal to provide Jamaica Public Services – Jamaica’s sole electricity distributor – with a new radio network.

The upgrade will cover 25 sites across the Island.

Simoco says the new Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) network will be more reliable, and allow for more natural, two way dialogue. It can also be used for data transmission.

Gary Correia, VP Americas sales and business development at Simoco Wireless Solutions, said: “This is a great contract to win and one that plays to Simoco’s strengths. The new network will enable JPS to communicate clearly and with flexibility across the entire Island.

“The new digital radios will ensure that JPS employees are using the network with the latest radio technology, giving them the benefit of crystal clear communications in all environments.

“The new network will also serve as the perfect backbone for further data communication services, and the ability to unify JPS’ voice and data transmissions across one network.”
