Nottingham woman set to compete for Mrs Universe crown

A woman from Nottingham is getting ready to set off to South Africa later this month to compete in the Mrs Universe pageant.

Caroline Kampila, who was born in Zimbabwe and have been living in Nottingham since moving to UK, will be representing Great Britain at this year’s competition in Durban from August 25 until September 2, 2017.

Alongside Caroline’s day to day job, she is currently a Cancer Research UK ambassador and is also involved with Nhaka Foundation, a charity organisation in Zimbabwe which champions education for mainly orphaned and vulnerable children who would usually not make it to school without assistance.

The eight days will be filled with activities including water rides, game drives, presentations, talent shows, an awards night and will be wrapped up with the final night which has the national costume and evening gown segment before the crowning moment.

Caroline will also be joining other people in South Africa on the August 30 in a silent march against violence.

As charity is at the heart of Mrs Universe, Caroline will have an opportunity to spend time at a children’s home as well as a few schools in South Africa. She is currently in the process of putting together children’s gifts including games, books, pens, clothes and more to take with her.

Mrs Universe is a global platform where women between the age of 25 to 45 years from different countries participate. This year about 84 women are expected to participate under the theme “Empowering Women, Creating Change” and “Against Violence” motto.
