Double deal to bring 70 jobs to Leicester

Up to 70 jobs are set to be created in Leicester after two firms signed deals to 9,274 sq ft of office space at City Gate House in a deal brokered by Innes England.

Law firm Edwards Hands & Lewis – which already had a team of 15 based at City Gate House on St Margarets Way – has doubled its space to accommodate 15 new recruits and consolidate its teams, while recruitment firm Pearson Anderson has taken the building’s third floor

Jason Hathaway, senior partner for Edwards Hands & Lewis, said the additional space was vital to support the firm’s ambitious growth plans.

“Our commercial team was already based here so it made perfect sense to upgrade our current lease to take additional space in the building. We’ve recruited 15 new members of staff and we plan to grow the team by up to 40 before the end of the year within our conveyancing, commercial and head office teams,” said Hathaway.

“Previously we had offices in Melton and Loughborough; this consolidation of teams in Leicester has not only allowed us to offer improved working environment for our staff but also means that we’re offering a better service to clients too. Now we’ll be focussing on strengthening our client base in the region and working to expand this by working with more clients nationally.”

Pearson Anderson, a specialist carer and nurse recruitment company, will be recruiting up to 15 staff, as well as setting up an office dedicated to NHS recruitment.

Amit Kainth, chief executive, said: “We’re going through a really exciting period of growth; Leicester is just one of our UK-wide offices from which we operate nationally providing carers and nurses across the UK.

“We’ve recently won a significant NHS contract and are expanding our 500-strong team to accommodate business growth and we’re also looking to franchise our model.

“The new premises at City Gate House is ideally located to help us to establish a specialist NHS recruitment arm. 30 staff will be moving into the new offices and we’ll be looking to recruit a further 15 recruitment consultants.”

Jenny Clarke, associate director for Innes England, said: “We’re seeing a lot of professional services like Edwards Hands & Lewis and Pearson Anderson Ltd moving into Leicester city centre.

“Both occupiers have invested heavily in fitting out the offices and it leaves us with only two small suites totalling 2,000 sq ft to let now, which is likely to attract a lot of interest giving the high-quality facilities and excellent transport links.”

John Coles, asset manager for Mapeley Estates, which acts as the landlords for the building, said: “Since the building was vacated two years ago we have let 15,650 sq ft of office space. Edwards Hands & Lewis and Pearson Anderson are welcome tenants.

“City Gate offers a commercial office space in the city which is ideal for growing SMEs and professional services businesses. I’m confident the two suites remaining at City Gate will be let soon.”

Clarke added: “Leicester continues to be a city where businesses thrive and securing two lettings within two weeks at City Gate House is testament to this.”
