Housebuilding giant targets East Mids growth

Persimmon, the housebuilder which recently opened a Mansfield office creating 50 jobs, has posted “excellent” results for the six months to the end of June.

Profits before tax at the firm rose by 30% to £457.4m, while revenues increased by 12% to £1.66bn.

Nicholas Wrigley, chairman, said: “Our new Nottinghamshire business based in Mansfield which opened at the beginning of the year has made a good start to trading and delivered over 170 new homes in the first half. We look forward to further growth in this important regional market moving forward. The Group now has 29 regional businesses delivering new homes right across the UK.

“Persimmon’s performance over the first half of 2017 has been excellent. By focussing on the consistent execution of our strategy over recent years, the Group is in an enviable position to adapt to changing market conditions and to take advantage of market opportunities as events unfold. We remain mindful of the risks the Group faces. We will continue to concentrate on delivering the best possible outcomes for our shareholders based upon maximising the cash efficiency of the business and continuing to invest in the Group’s high quality land bank.
