New Nottingham head of office for Shakespeare Martineau

Duncan James

Duncan James has been appointed as head of the Nottingham office at Shakespeare Martineau after a 26-year career in the city.

James started with the firm 23 years ago.

He said: “I am proud of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, having been born in the county and I am relishing the opportunity to help our clients and friends grow their businesses.

“Shakespeare Martineau is a firm for entrepreneurs, whether that is the clients we are supporting or the talent we are hiring. From working closely with local businesses, we understand the pressures and challenges that face fast-growing companies and we are determined to ensure that the firm stays at the heart of supporting them.

“We have a rich heritage in corporate and commercial, property and private client expertise, and these areas work seamlessly alongside our core sectors and facilitating more collaboration across the firm is a main objective of mine. This will ensure that our clients continue to get specialist advice, no matter which industry they practice in.”

He added:

“Family-owned businesses are the lifeblood of the local economy and that’s why we have created a specialist team to support the unique challenges that this group of business owners face. During my time as head of office, I intend on reaching out further to local family and tech-based businesses in the region that are being recognised for their innovation and contribution to the local economy.

“We also intend to support fledgling businesses the entire way through their growth trajectory, no matter what challenges they face.”
