University vice-chancellor joins Notts County board

Nottingham Trent University vice-chancellor Professor Edward Peck has joined Notts County’s board of directors.

Peck, who has held his current post since August 2014, previously worked at the University of Birmingham as head of the college of social sciences and his early career was as a manager in the UK National Health Service. His academic interests encompass public policy and organisational leadership.

He is currently treasurer of University Alliance – a mission group of like-minded universities in the UK – and sits on the Local Enterprise Board, the Midlands Engine Strategic Leadership Board and the Board of the Universities and Colleges Employers Association.

Peck said: “I was delighted when the chairman offered me the opportunity to join the board at Notts County having heard his plans for the future.

“This is a fantastic club with a great heritage and one of the major assets of the city and county. It has been encouraging to see the team perform well under his ownership and under Kevin Nolan’s management. I hope this can continue and that we can bring some overdue success to the club.

“Nottingham Trent University enjoys a close relationship with the football club, with our staff and students involved in coaching roles and work placements. I am keen for that to continue and develop further now I am on the board.”

Notts chairman and owner Alan Hardy added: “I am absolutely delighted to welcome Edward to the board.

“His expertise and contacts will be absolutely vital to us as we look to strengthen our relationship with Nottingham Trent and I thoroughly look forward to tapping into his vast knowledge and experience.”
