Derby tops innovation table
According to leading think tank Centre for Cities, Derby is a top 5 UK location for innovation.
The latest research by Centre for Cities places Derby fourth for patent applications, placing it well above London, as well as the rest of the East Midlands.
Patent data is widely used to measure innovation. The data is based on the number of patent applications, at their date of publication (in 2015). Applications are usually published about 18 months after the application is submitted to the patent authority.
