Center Parcs could swoop for Derbyshire resorts operator

Forest Holidays, which has its central support office in Moira, Derbyshire, could be sold to holiday giant Center Parcs, according to reports.

Sky News says it has learned that Center Parcs is preparing a takeover bid for its smaller competitor as the demand for ‘staycation’ holidays in the UK increases.

Forest Holidays is jointly-owned by the Forestry Commission and private equity firm LDC, and has nine sites across the UK, including one in Sherwood Forest.

Center Parcs is embarking on an expansion plan that includes the opening of a resort in Ireland.

A spokesperson for the company declined to comment to Sky News.
