Hour-long delays on M1 after traffic collision

The M1 in Northamptonshire has two lanes closed between J16 and J17 due to a traffic collision involving a car an a HGV.

The car has already been recovered, however the HGV has left the carriageway and the lane closures are likely to remain in place until this has been recovered. There is also significant barrier damage that requires repair, and an diesel spillage that requires cleanup.

This incident is currently causing delays of over 60 minutes. Road users are advised to allow additional travel time, and consider alternative routes where possible. Traffic from further afield may wish to consider using the M40 for the Midlands.
