Nottingham cocktail and wings bar expands into Derby

Bunk is set to open in Derby in November

Fast-growing cocktails and wings restaurant and bar Bunk is set to open a Derby venue.

Bunk has signed a new 10-year lease on the former Saddlers Bar premises on Sadler Gate, and is due to open in November later this year.

Darran Severn from FHP Property Consultants said: “We had been speaking with Bunk for almost a year but had been struggling to offer the right property for them. When Sadler Gate Bar became available it was clear this would be the perfect opportunity.”

This summer, TheBusinessDesk.com reported that Bunk could be about to open its third branch in Nottingham city centre.

A company called Bunk (Wollaton Street) Limited has applied for a drinks and entertainments licence for the lower ground floor of the Hydrogen Building, the student apartment development next to the Theatre Royal in Nottingham city centre. The company shares the same directors as the Bunk Group.

If Bunk moves in, it will be the brand’s third outlet following venues in Stoney Street and Lower Parliament Street.

David Hargreaves, director at FHP, told TheBusinessDesk.com: “There has been ongoing interest in the commercial units of the Hydrogen building, but this is not surprising – given its close proximity to Nottingham Trent University and the student population of Nottingham.

“Conversations are currently underway with potential tenants, and terms have already been agreed with a Chinese supermarket to take a section of the ground floor, and a bar/restaurant for the basement level.”
