Leicester packaging firm shrugs off Brexit vote to invest £2m

Leicester packaging giant Clifton Packaging is putting Brexit worries behind it and investing £2m in new machinery to meet increased demand for its products.

According to latest accounts filed to the end of 2016, the Brexit vote last year meant that investment plans were put on hold.

Now, the firm says it will spend on new machinery to offer a “more efficient broader range of services”.

Figures show that Clifton Packaging turned over £19.1m in 2016 – up 1% from 2015, while profits remained steady at £2.6m.

The firm employed 109 people at the end of December 2016.
