Nottingham’s food and drink scene welcomed another newcomer last Friday (13 October) week as Roxy Ball Room opened its doors to the public.

The new venue at 10 Thurland Street in Hockley has 13 games tables including American Pool, beer pong and ping pong, a dedicated VIP area with a draught beer station and a graffiti mural designed especially for Nottingham by a professional street artist.

Kelly Sibley, Commonwealth Games bronze medalist and London 2012 Olympian celebrated with other VIPs at a launch night. She said: “I think Roxy Ball Room is absolutely fantastic, to have professional standard Butterfly table tennis tables in a relaxed environment is great.

“To be able to enjoy my sport in such a cool venue and chill out with my mates is brilliant, there’s no other venue like this in the city. Honestly, I will be coming here again.”

Joel Mitchell, brand manager for Roxy Ball Room said: “Nottingham is a fantastic city, it’s already got a vibrant night life and I’m confident we complement what the city already has to offer.

“We open to the public this weekend and to celebrate we are offering free gaming all evening from 6pm on American Pool, beer pong and ping pong. We have a great selection of draught and bottle beers and bar food, we can’t wait for everyone to come and get involved.”

Matt Jones, co-owner for the family-run Jones Bar Group said: “We’re proud to be part of Nottingham’s entertainment market; the city is well known for high-quality bars and shopping and we’re really excited to be a part of that.”

The new venture has created 16 new jobs for the city and has seen a listed building revived following a £400,000 investment.
