New student accommodation planned for Lace Market site

A planning application has been submitted for 67 student flats on a Nottingham site that had previously been earmarked for the new headquarters of a city security firm.

The application from PSG SSAT Trustees supersedes plans for an office development on the cite.

The previous designs revealed in April this year by Magpie Security included plans to extend the use of the land as a car park. At the time is said the move would help fund the planning application for the new building.

However, planning firm Grace Machin has now submitted plans for a new student accommodation development that will include a games room, cafe and cinema room.

In September, Monk Estates was granted permission to build the an 85-apartment residential development next to the proposed Pemberton Street scheme.

A planning statement from Grace Machin reads: “The proposed new building will function as part of the network of residential development at the edge of the Lace Market previously identified as suitable for development to enliven the area.”
