Logged-off: Suzanne Green, The Cornerhouse

Suzanne Green

Does Suzanne Green, centre manager for The Cornerhouse in Nottingham, get any downtime at the weekend? We found out…

How do you relax at the weekend?
I live on a farm where we run a horse livery business so I find being there and looking after the horses relaxing in comparison to my city centre job. I also have 13-year-old twins, one rides competitively so I spend time with her and her horse and her brother plays rugby for Paviors RFC, so in the winter I watch him play on Sunday mornings. I also manage the showjumping teams for South Notts Pony Club where my daughter rides so am often also busy with them at competitions. So, relaxing isn’t part of my world, I’m always busy!

How many hours do you work at the weekend on average?
Maybe an hour, I don’t tend to work at weekends as have really great staff on site but I’m always on call if there is an issue at work, so sometimes I may deal with something on the phone with the duty manager or if necessary go in. I do keep on top of emails which come in too as we are open 24/7.

What’s your favourite…
Holiday destination? I really enjoy the French Alps where we have a holiday apartment, it’s lovely both in the summer for hiking or water rafting, and also in the winter for skiing. It‘s stunningly pretty and the air is so clear. It’s a great place to just chill, but also I can walk off all of the French cheese and bread that I can polish off!

Book? Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austin. I’ve read it so many times and never get bored of it, bizarrely.

Album? David Bowie, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust – I have loved this album from my childhood bedroom and know every word. Every time I hear it, I go back to being a teenager with spiky hair!

Food? Steak, salad and sweet potato fries. I try not to eat carbs anymore, so I’ve become addicted to sweet potato fries as an alternative.

TV Programme? I love American dramas like Greys Anatomy, The Good Wife etc, they’re all so easy to watch but I also love a good thriller too, like The Missing or The Fall.

Website or app? Facebook but have I’ve just downloaded the Netflix app which is brilliant.

How do you usually spend Sunday evenings?
After a busy weekend with children’s sports and socialising, I have a bath with lots of bubbles, a facemask and a glass of wine. Then we have a family meal and catch-up on the House of Cards box set.
