Derbyshire PR firm on board with Skills

The Poppy and Skills teams

Derbyshire-based PR firm, Poppy PR, has secured a contract with Skills Holidays, the historic East Midlands coach travel company.

The Ilkeston-based agency will be providing PR support to the firm based in Bulwell, to drive the company’s three main brands: Laver; Coach Style; and Skills Holidays.

Tina Clough, managing director at Poppy-PR, said: “Working with Skills is an amazing feat for Poppy-PR. The referral came to us from recommendation, and for us, this is the best possible testimonial for the work that we do as an agency.

“Skills is a historic brand in the East Midlands and a very well known company to be working with. The marketing team had seen our work on social media and were convinced that we could help them to maximise the press coverage that they currently receive.”

Katie Parry, marketing manager at Skills said: “We chose to work with Poppy PR as we were really impressed with the work that they had done for their portfolio of clients.

“They completely understand our company objectives and we’re looking forward to see all of the exciting opportunities that will come our way as a result of our new partnership.”

Skills Motor Coaches was established in Radford, Nottingham in 1919.

The firm was founded by Arthur Skill, the current managing director and financial director’s grandfather, who began by using his only lorry to collect fish from the early morning market and for light haulage during the day. Soon, he began carrying local miners to Bestwood Colliery, and in 1921 he purchased a Crossley Charabanc – Skills’ first bus.
