UNiDAYS to create 100 jobs in Nottingham

UNiDAYS, the Nottingham-headquartered student affinity network, says it will create 100 jobs in the city over the next six months as part of ambitious growth plans.

Speaking to TheBusinessDesk.com, UNiDAYS chief executive, Josh Rathour, said he wants his firm to be the “employer of choice” in Nottingham, and that the city’s thriving tech sector is drawing in skilled employees from around the UK.

Rathour, who recently won the Rising Star Award ay the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year UK 2017 final, also said turnover at the firm is set to double turnover by the end of its next financial year.

“We’re doing remarkably well,” said Rathour. He added: “I’m pleased to see how many people want to come and work in our global HQ in Nottingham. We operate in 32 countries and already have offices in New York and Sydney and we’re looking at building French and German teams.

“Revenues will rise 100% year-on-year by the end of our next financial period, and at it’s great that we’re growing this quickly so early on in the arc of the business.”

Rathour says his company, a network that gives students exclusive discounts from some of the best known retailers, also wants to expand into providing students with opportunities to make money “enrich the lives and experiences of young people” by forging partnerships with charities and volunteering organisations.

He set UNiDAYS up in Nottingham six years ago. The company now operates from a 25,000 sq ft office on Castle Boulevard. However, Rathour says the firm has plans to outgrow the building.

“We’re now at a point where I’m having to think that in two years we might have to look for a bigger office.

“Nottingham is very close to my heart; I live here and its thriving tech scene means that people can move here to get a great job but also have that excellent standard of living that perhaps they’d struggle to elsewhere.

“What I want to do is try and create the next wave of entrepreneurs by finding and supporting individuals who also want to transform the consumer tech sector. I’m driven to better than I am today, and what UNiDAYS is doing to bringing together a team of ‘builders’ who will drive both the company – and the city – forward.”
